Who can benefit from a home visit?
Our experienced team of physios are able to offer home visits to patients for whom it isn’t possible or convenient to travel to appointments.
Chronic respiratory conditions: COPD, bronchiectasis, asthma, fibrotic lung disease
- We can provide short term input, for example supporting patient’s after they are discharged home to provide bespoke rehabilitation and airway clearance techniques.
- Or we can provide long term input, for example regular sessions to provide bespoke rehabilitation and promote a healthy lifestyle to improve long-term respiratory health. We also introduce management plans to minimise exacerbation frequency and severity.
Respiratory infections – COVID, pneumonia
- We can provide support for patients either to avoid hospital admission, or on discharge from hospital, with managing breathlessness, airway clearance, activity modification and liaising with health professionals.
What to expect from a home visit
You will receive the same world class quality of service from a home visit – just in the comfort of your own home!
During your first appointment, your physiotherapist will want to gain a proper understanding of the following:
- When your symptoms started
- The exact symptoms you are experiencing and what it feels like
- Whether you have tried anything to help your symptoms so far and whether it has worked
- Which medications you are taking
- Results of any recent scans or tests you may have had
- What your goals are i.e. what would you like to be able to do that you can’t do now?
Your physiotherapist will then examine you and plan an individualised rehabilitation plan for you which may include advice, education and exercises that will help you to manage your symptoms. This is tailored to you, your existing circumstances and your future goals.
Your physiotherapist will talk through with you what to practice at home to optimise your results.
